We grow a variety of award winning Apple, Pears, Blackcurrants and Strawberries

STRAWBERRIES

Carefully selected varieties of strawberries are grown first and foremost for flavour, yield and beauty.  We grow among others Driscoll’s Zara , Malling Ace, Malling Centenary and Driscoll’s Katrina .The Farm are regular award winners and the national soft fruits and cherry show.

APPLES

Cox, Bramley, Braeburn, Gala, Discovery to name but a few the varieties we grow. Our orchards range in ages from just a year old to the historic Church Orchard where Bramleys have been growing for over 50 years.

PEARS

Our Pear orchards are the most established orchards on the Farm. We grow Comice and Conference Pears, with a deep, sweet flavour that makes them a family favourite.

Comice pears are among the sweetest and juiciest of all varieties of pears. Their flesh is silky soft, and can best be described as creamy in texture, abundantly full of juice, and very sweet.

BLACKCURRANTS

We have been growing Blackcurrants consistently for over 50 years for Ribena.  Historically the varieties are bred in Scotland , namely Ben Gairn, Ben Tirren, Ben Hope and Ben Starav . They now have to cope with milder winters that have become more common. Blackcurrant bushes need a period of cold weather between November and January to ensure uniform bud break .

The crop is machine harvested in July and sent on a daily basis to be pressed for juice rich in vitamin C.
